Belgium: Brussels and Lots of Chocolate

Hi. This is M&M and I am going to tell you about my experience in Brussels and stuffing my face with super good chocolate. We started our day in Brussels by droving to the train museum. There was lots of old models of trains and how they were built/their history. It was super cool.

We saw some old engines and some old tools too. There were huge old trains in the building.  It was a little creepy because it was super dark in the building and for some weird reason they were playing creepy music in the background.  Monster did not like the creepy building he said it scared him.  It kinda scared me too.

I think there were four big building in all.  The big modern trains were in a bright room and there wasn't any creepy music.  Monster LOVED this because he loves trains and cars and planes. We all really enjoyed going here.

Mom did a lot of research before coming here and she found a way to do a DIY Brussels Chocolate Tour.  I guess it normally costs a lot of money and since there are 6 of us, it would have been so much money, and it's only a select Chocolate store you can go in, so we did a super amazing chocolate tour on our own and got so much yummy chocolate.  We dropped the car off at the Airbnb then took the metro to the centre of town because there isn't any parking there.  Mom thought we got off at the Grand Palace, but we actually got out at the Royal Palace.  We decided to make the most of it and check out the Palace.  There was a super cool town square and an old Royal Palace.  There were guards all around the building and it was like a big cement square around it.  It kinda reminded me of the White House.

We didn't know how to navigate the metro to get to the Grand Palace, so we decided to walk.  Mom adjusted the chocolate tour, and we started walking to the closest Chocolate shop on her tour.  I felt bad for her because I knew that she put a lot of time into planning it perfect, and now she had to adjust everything.  But it was cool. As we walked around the town square and saw so many chocolate shops. They were everywhere.

We made our first Chocolate tour stop at Passion Chocolate.  Dad and mom bought us each three chocolates that we got to choose.  It was amazing and delicious and so yummy. We bought some extra chocolate to send to family back home, real Belgium Chocolate!

We kept walking and stopped at our next Chocolate shops for the tour, Elizabeth and Pierre Marcolini.  These were super busy and expensive chocolate, so we just walked in and had a look around and decided to keep walking to the next shops.

We were getting a little hungry, so we stopped at the best Belgium Waffles in town, Maison Dandoy.

We all got a waffle and ate them. They were super good! Some of us got cinnamon ones, or powdered sugar ones, or chocolate ones. I got a chocolate one and it was super good.

We continued our Chocolate Tour and made our way to where mom wanted to start at the Grand Palace.  There were two chocolate shops here that were our favourites, Mary Chocolatier and Neunaus.  This was the best chocolate.  Mom and Dad let us get 3 chocolates each at both of the shops.

The Grand Palace is a huge town square that also has a bell tower in the middle of the square. Mom wanted to climb the steps all the way to the top but it cost some money and the wait was like an hour and a half. So, that was a no and we just enjoyed the bells as we ate in the square. We were so stuffed on chocolate that we didn't eat much, but I liked listening to the bells.  The bells lasted for like 15 minutes. They were super awesome and pretty.

The town square had so many amazing buildings on every side.  It was neat seeing all the buildings and the bell tower and our two favourite chocolate shops all around us while listening to bells ring out familiar songs. There were horse drawn carriages in the square and Little A and I really wanted a ride.  Mom said we could check the price.  In the end it didn't come down to money, we found out the rides were by reservation only and they could only fit 5 people max, so there was no way we could go for a ride.  But they let me and Little A pet the horses and take a picture of them. It was such a great day and we ate so much chocolate, and all of it was so delicious.  It was a great day.
